[Revenue Update] November 2021 - 0.3% of $1,000,000 Goal
Current Status
$297.43 (Sep) → $323.01 (Oct) → $300.09 (Nov)
7.1% decrease in revenue from last month
Writeaday, my main app, is driving these dwindling numbers. You can see monthly users are down, daily users are steady around 700 but if you zoom out a few more months you’ll see that’s on a downwards trend as well.
Bento is also on a downwards trend, which is not too surprising given the lack of marketing and new features. I’ve scratched my own itch with this app and I enjoy using it on a personal level so I’m content with its current state and likely won’t work on it at all going forward. Total revenue $400. At best 100 MAU and 10 DAU.
5 Minute Journal, originally a feature within Writeaday, is tracking well on development. Seeing promising user numbers - more recently it’s been consistently hitting 200 MAU and 20 DAU. The resulting 10% DAU/MAU ratio is not bad to start with, but definitely want to aim for 20%.
5 Minute Journal is about introspecting so this decently high average engagement time is good to see.
Retention is always the hardest metric for me to move, but here a 25% day 1 retention is a good start.
Next Steps
Writeaday
Refactor using everything I’ve learned in the past year.
Roll out the server-backed version of Writeaday to 100% (currently only in beta).
5 Minute Journal
There are a fair number of stability fixes.
Add significant delight features (ex: confetti and dialog when completing a morning/evening routine).
Gamify the gratitude selfies (ex: streaks or badges).
Notification controls (ex: custom message for notification reminders).
Taskaday
Rebuild for stability since the feature set is incredibly compelling.
Foraday
I’ve been playing around with the circular design in concepts for other apps.
I think there’s potential here. I haven’t really touched this since I built it back in 2017. I think I can better handle the technical complexities this time around.
